Alice ISD 4th Graders visit History Center
Fifty-three 4th graders from Salazar Elementary in Alice came to the History Center on Friday May 15th to see our exhibit on “Signers of the Texas Declaration of Independence.” The education committee had set up five stations for the students. Maureen Winkelman, Kam Wagert, Janet Taylor, and Joe Garland led the students through the exhibit panels with a scavenger hunt. The students had to find answers to questions by reading the panels. Sandy Garrison told the students about the house move and the history of the house (History Center.) Vickie Merchant told about the three men who had owned the house. Howard and Robin Jones had a farrier table set up with many different horseshoes on display. Pam Stranahan was in the gazebo telling the students about the herbs in “Doc’s Garden” and their uses. The students were treated to herbal tea and a pickle slice (showing the use of dill.)
We hope you enjoy these pictures from the event.
